Some days I have nothing to write about. Some days too much.
Lets start off with my decision not to head up to Marquette. That was a good one as I think it hasn’t stopped raining there since Friday. I saw a few pics of the races up there and it was a mud fest. Glad I passed.
Saturday, since I was off all weekend I decided to give the local group ride another shot. This is the one that I lasted about 8 minutes on last month. I had planned to ride solo anyway so getting dropped would be no biggie this time. When I pulled up to the lot I was as nervous as if this was a race. That feeling in your gut that you have no idea what’s going to happen. It’s been a long time since I had that nervous race feeling and I kinda miss it.
Then I was even more worried when 4 out of the 12 or so bikes were CAT 1 riders. No doubt the fastest bikes in the area. I was prepared to ride on my own in short time.
But it was not as bad as I thought. Sure, I got dropped a few times and even butt pushed up a few hills but for the most part they waited up enough for me to only be a few minutes off when we stopped for breakfast. Well over an hour into the ride. At least I got to eat with them. On the way home it was a bit faster but thats to be expected. The last 10 miles was just me and another guy who rode with me. But I’ll take it. Some of the guys were still in the parking lot when I got back and thats pretty much a win for me.
Sunday I went in to work just for a bit and took the new Crockett home with me to test ride. I put about an hour on it. My first ride with eTap. I’ll have more to say about that in a day or so. I have just a couple tweeks to do yet before I call the bike done but I’ll have a separate post on it as with all my personal builds.
Another amazing day here. Coffee by the lake was nice this morn. I’ll have more to say about the Crockett in a few days. All in all a nice weekend even tho I didn’t get to head up to the UP as planned.
