Yesterday was one of those rare days that I didn’t post. It was fairly busy in the store and that’s not a bad thing. The Holiday shopping has been good so far.
Spent most of the days either ordering or selling stuff. Nice.
Ive come to a pretty big business decision. Up to now I have planned on putting a spin\yoga studio upstairs. That was listed on my business plan when I made the decision to move to this bigger location. That would have been some nice winter revenue to help in the colder months. Was going to have 5 or 6 spin bikes and 5 or 6 fluid trainers. Big screen TV. Not a class taught by a person but play motivational DVDs in that big screen. Maybe some tour stages. Movies. Stuff like that. But Im way behind schedule for the build out. Classes should have started by now. At best, now I could start after the Holidays. And that’s just too late.
Too late to make the investment in build out and equipment and not have enough time to recoup. So today Ive decided to seek a sublease upstairs. It’s really set up with a separate entrance when this building was built, so it wont be hard to separate. The building was actually designed for that. It’s really a nice space for an office or whatever.
Sure, I’ll lose some storage area up stairs but I’ll get by. And the revenue would be way more than any spin studio would generate.
Another aspect in the thought is the time needed to do these classes. To get things started I would be the only one to supervise this after store hours venture. Would really just be too much. Im here 10 to 12 hours a day as it is.
In the meantime, I have 7 Blackburn Fluid Trainers that I bought with good intentions and now will sell pretty cheap. No longer needed. Im a little disappointing with myself as I should have been on this in August. Totally my bad. But not as big a deal as I think it is. Either way the large upstairs space is generating revenue AND I will still be able to ride now and then.
So it all works out in the end.
